A sea day consisted of conversations with the Edgecombs and playing the corn hole game with Tom. Getting off the ship in Santorini involved boarding tenders to get to shore. The bus took us up the steep winding road to the plateau above the cliffs, then across the island to the oh so popular village of Oia. We were fortunate to be one of the first buses, as the town quickly gets overwhelmed with tourists. Our first destination through the tiny streets and passageways was a view of the blue domes. We quickly abandoned the short no moving line to the ‘perfect’ single person viewpoint because rude people were doing ten minute photoshoots. We settled for a less crowded spot to snap our photos and enjoy the striking contrast of white and blue. We wound our way to the windmills next and the old fort before briefly window-shopping. The crowds were ridiculous by the time we left to go to the town of Fira. We ate lunch at a cafe and shopped and I bought a shirt. We passed up the cable car ride down the cliff and shared the steep slippery 1000 ft trail with mules to a dock where we could a boat to the ship. The eight of us enjoyed a unique sunset dinner at the Teppanyaki restaurant where the chef prepared our meal on a grill in front of us while we watched the sunset on the island of Santorini.
